Austrian Postal System
Until 1 May 1996, Österreichische Post AG, as the Austrian postal service is called today, was part of the federal administration; then known as the Postal and Telegraph Administration (Post- und Telegraphenverwaltung - PTV), it was the responsibility of the Ministry for Transport.

Organisation of the Supreme Postal Authority
In order to manage all tasks related to the postal sector, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism has established the Supreme Postal Authority in its Directorate General IV. As of 1 January 2008, the regulatory affairs were transferred to the Rundfunk und Telekom Regulierungsbehörde-GesmbH.
