An efficient educational and consulting system is of great significance for the entire agricultural sector. Specific agricultural educational offers exist from the 9th grade onwards; they correspond to the basic structure of the Austrian educational system. The available offer is oriented primarily according to the needs of farmers. The variety of farm types in Austria is reflected also in the wide range of educational and consulting services offered.
"Sustainable education - shaping the future"
A new campaign presents the diversity of the training opportunities in the schools of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism (BMLRT) and aims to get more girls interested in technical branches of schooling.
Secondary Agriculture and Forestry Colleges
The secondary agriculture and forestry schools offer diverse, future-oriented training opportunities throughout Austria. The offer ranges from the different areas of agriculture and forestry to food, biotechnology and digitisation as well as environmental and resource management.

Rural Youth Austria is with more than 90,000 members the largest youth organisation in rural areas. There it is the driving force for active, responsible and critical participation.

The Rural Further Education Institute
With 14,000 courses and more than 300,000 participants per year, the Rural Further Education Institute (Ländliches Fortbildungsinstitut LFI) is the largest adult education institution in the rural Areas.

SCAR - Standing Committee on Agricultural Research
SCAR plays a key role in the establishment of a European Research Area for agriculture and forestry as well as bioeconomy. SCAR member organisations advocate cooperation, coordination and information exchange between the Member States.
Research platform DaFNE
DaFNE is the name of the research platform of the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism (BMNT), which is derived from the abbreviation of the term “Datenbank für Forschung zur Nachhaltigen Entwicklung” (Database for Research and Sustainable Development).
Our contribution to research in Europe
The BMLRT is the representative of Austria in the committees of agricultural, environmental and energy research of the European Union. This ensures that Austria's interests are brought into European research Networks.
