The main priorities of the programme are the areas of environment and investment as well as competence and innovation. The financial resources for 2014 to 2020 are tighter than in the past period.
"It was important for us to make the best possible use of all the resources. A target-oriented and effective strategy was jointly designed. Subsequent improvements to finance planning were necessary for the compensatory allowance in mountain regions and biological agriculture," Federal Minister Rupprechter emphasised. Moreover, the provinces were given the option of allocating additional funding to the measures.
The programme priorities ensure that the agricultural sector remains innovative, professional, and competitive. In this context, attention is paid to ensuring that domestic holdings operate in a particularly environmentally-friendly and sustainable manner. Numerous measures counteract climate change and high resource consumption.
Rupprechter: "With the help of intelligent, sustainable, and balanced growth, rural areas are further developed and strengthened as an attractive place to live, do business, and engage in recreational activities.“
