The aim is to strengthen these regions and help them develop further as attractive business, recreation and living areas through smart, sustainable and balanced growth.
The Rural Development Programme was developed with utmost care. It was crucial to actively involve stakeholders from the very beginning. With their ideas and concerns they enriched the programme and made it more diverse.
The guiding principles are regionality and diversity. These are the values that pave the way towards high-quality, authentic and resource-efficient production, allowing us to improve our living standards and compete successfully on the international market. In that sense our strategy also sends out a strong signal for organic farming.
The major priorities of the programme are dedicated to environment and investment, as well as expertise and innovation. The financial framework for 2014 to 2020 is slightly tighter than it was for the last period, so we considered it crucial to use all funding in the best way possible. Proven measures can be continued. In addition, we have managed to optimise a substantial number of programme items. Some new and targeted stimulus measures have been added to complement and expand the successful development achieved over the past years.
The consumers in our country can continue to rely on high-quality food products that are both safe and affordable.
