The BMLRT supports the maintenance of area-wide agricultural production and the sale of and trade in domestic products. Key tasks include the monitoring and support of marketing and the implementation of EU decisions in the major agricultural production sectors.
The food helpers - Workers for the food chain
In order to counteract the labour shortage in the food industry and at the harvest the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism has created a central platform for labour recruitment.
CORONA Relief Fund for Agriculture and Forestry
The CORONA Relief Fund has been established in order to help Austrian enterprises who have got into a liquidity shortage due to the COVID-19 crisis. The fund is endowed with an amount of € 15 billion and helps also agricultural and forestry enterprises to cushion losses of turnover, fixed costs and losses of values of goods.
Hardship fund: Support for Agriculture and Forestry
The Corona virus pandemic constitutes for Austria the most severe crisis since World War II. The agricultural and forestry holdings are not spared the effects of the crisis either. The hardship fund is a first aid measure of the Federal Government and supports enterprises, which have got into acute financial distress. The money is a one-off contribution and doesn’t have to be paid back. The application takes place online via eAMA.
Relief for farmers already in 2021
Even this year a relief package for family farms will be adopted - thus the planned measures can enter into force already in 2021.
Tax reform eases tax burden on farming and forestry holdings by EUROS 120 million
In adopting the tax reform, the federal government has endorsed one of the largest tax relief packages in the history of Austria's agriculture and forestry.
